Getting around
No usable passenger rail. Shared 'furgon' minibuses and intercity buses cover the country cheaply but run without fixed timetables — they leave when full. A rental car is the practical way to reach the Riviera and mountains; roads are much improved, though rural surfaces and driving habits still demand care.
Visa details
Indian passport holders normally need a visa, but entry is visa-free if you hold a valid, previously used multiple-entry Schengen, US or UK visa. Rules have changed repeatedly in recent years — confirm with the Albanian embassy before booking.

- Tap water is best avoided outside Tirana — bottled is cheap
