Overview

National park of Brazil. It sits on the northeast coast, which is warm and sunny almost year-round.

Why visit: Serra da Capivara's rock paintings are among the oldest human traces in the Americas, and the Jesuit mission ruins tell a very different story.

›Take the guided route — the rock art sites require one
›Start early; there is no shade in the caatinga
